MBABANE:Khanya Mabuza, the Executive Director of the National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS(NERCHA), recent appointment as Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Health was actually a demotion.
As a result, the new PS will have his salary reduced from One Hundred and eighty thousand Rands(R180 000) salary to fifty-thousand Rands(R50,000.00).
Efforts to reach the new Health Principal Secretary(PS) proved unsuccessful at the of compiling this report.
According to the Public Enterprises Unit Circular No. 2 of 2021, the NERCHA Executive Director was earning within the Group 5A schedule, where the maximum pay was One hundred and eighty eight thousand, one hundred and thirty four, eight three cents (R188 134. 83) per month.
Principal Secretaries (PS) earn around fifty thousand, three hundred and sixty one, fifty cents (R50 361.50) per month.
This is the second most notable and similar ‘demotion’ occurring during the change of administration.
The appointment of Mabuza was announced by the Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini during a press conference held at the Cabinet offices on Wednesday.
