King Mswati officially opens R3.5billion construction of Mpakeni Dam project.

MBABANE:King Mswati has officially opened and commissioned the construction of the R3.5billion Mpakeni Dam, government online platforms reported on Friday.

The Mpakeni Dam is Phase one(I)of the Mkhondvo-Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Project.

During the sod cutting ceremony, His Majesty highlighted the numerous benefits that the public will derive from the project, including the construction of a state-of-the-art health facility and the upgrading of the A1-Mpakeni and the Siphofaneni-Nsoko-Siphambanweni (via St. Phillip’s) roads to tar.His Majesty has further commended those that are being resettled due to the project, praising their spirit of cooperation and understanding. He said he has been assured that those being moved will occcupy more decent and modern houses.The Mkhondvo-Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Project will benefit 8 communities in the Shiselweni region and these are Qomintaba, Hhohho Emuva, Manyiseni, Nsingizini, kaLiba, Lushiyini, Nyatsini, and Ndushulweni”, reads the government online report.
