MBABANE: Moses Vilakati, the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs has thanked the Swaziland News Editor, for verifying information during these time of elections where competing individuals flood him with stories with an alleged intention to discredit others.
This comes after the editor of this publication Zweli Martin Dlamini reached out to the Minister on Sunday evening, to verify certain allegations against the Minister is seeking a third(3rd) term as Ntontozi Member of Parliament(MP).
After conducting further investigation, the editor informed the Minister that the allegations won’t be published as after verification, they were found to be without basis.
“Thank you Nkhosi for kuhlolisisa indzaba”, said the Minister in a message sent to the editor.
On another note, the editor said, verifying information is meant to ensure that the public receives accurate and truthful information.
“Verifying is different from seeking a comment, when you verify that means you are in the process of gathering facts to inform your decision if the story is worth publishing or not. Once you gather the other side and balance it with the information from your source, you are then able to make a decision whether the story is true or not then, you can seek a comment,” said the editor.
