Strong winds destroy properties in eSwatini,network disrupted on the eve of Primary Elections, EBC Spokesperson Mbonisi Bhembe says voting going smoothly.

MBABANE:Mbonisi Bhembe,the Spokesperson of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) says voting is going smoothly in Voting Centres across the country, despite strong winds experienced across the country on the Eve of the Primary Elections.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Saturday, the Spokesperson said, Voting Centres were opened early in the morning, however, he clarified that, in some Constituencies, nominees and their agents are alleged to have arrived late.

“We can report to the Nation that voting is going smoothly in various Voting Centres across the country, despite the strong and destructive winds experienced yesterday night.But,in some Centres, nominees and their agents arrived late yet we wanted them to see the empty boxes before the voting start. Otherwise, everything is going smoothly, we hope emaSwati will respect the law and ensure that the election process remain peaceful”, said the Elections Commission Spokesperson.

Thandiwe Mashinini, the Eswatini MTN Spokesperson said, she “will send a formal response” to this publication later, and update regarding the extent of the alleged network disruption after the Friday night strong winds.

The strong winds were experienced even in places that include the capital city-Mbabane, trees were destroyed next to the Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE)and the Embassy of the Republic of China on Taiwan.
