MBABANE: “PUDEMO members are within their rights to boycott the ongoing Tinkhundla elections but, the process of passing laws and forming a government will continue”, Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson told the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) last week.

Nxumalo was speaking during a panel discussion with Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement, Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane, the President of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO), an organization that participated in the elections was also part of the political discussions.

“PUDEMO has been boycotting the elections all along, even this time, they decided to boycott. But, the process of forming a government and passing of laws will continue”, said the Government Spokesperson.

On another note, Mlungisi Makhanya, told the SABC that the Tinkhundla elections were not democratic hence they will continue to demand democratic elections.

ESwatini’s Tinkhundla elections has been widely condemned by the international community, the Southern African Development Community(SADC) recommended that political parties must be allowed to participate.

But King Mswati and the government went on to hold the elections without the participation of political parties.
