MBABANE: John Seyama, the Secretary General of the Swazis First Democratic Front(SFDF) has, on behalf of the organization, released a statement, condemning the decision by the country’s authorities to celebrate the Independence Day amid high levels of poverty in the country.
“The National Executive Committee [NEC] and membership of the Swazis First Democratic Front [SFDF] believe that the independence of the Swazi people will come the day when Swazis are able to celebrate their enduring dreams. The SFDF believes that such will only happen the day when a person’s potential is not limited by their background, where people will have the freedom to pursue the dreams they have together with their families. For the past 55 years, Swazis have been made to suffer under the Royal Family that has over the years amassed millions as a result crippling the economy and the entire country into poverty. The SFDF believes that the independence for the Swazi people is yet to come, and the Swazi people will liberate themselves from the hegemony of the Royal Family and all its organs”, reads the statement in part.
