MBABANE: Tsai Ing-wen, the visiting President of the Republic of China on Taiwan,toured the Mbabane Government Hospital on Thursday amid serious shortages of drugs.
But despite the health crisis, the Taiwan President said, she was pleased to note that eSwatini was developing, the healthy facility is among the projects supported by Taiwan.
”Being able to stand in your beautiful country again and witness Eswatini’s continued growth and development, I have great pride for everything you and your people have accomplished and how you have overcome difficult circumstances.As close friends, we share similar goals for the future. We both care deeply about young people and their education, which form the bedrock of any society,” said the Taiwan President as quoted by Government online platforms.
On another note, Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi said, she are grateful to Taiwan for assisting the King in strengthening putting the health institution that “is more than one hundred(100) years” old.
“The generosity of the people of Taiwan has played a massive role in changing the face of the city of Mbabane,” said the Health Minister.
Reached for comments, Lucky Dlamini Chairperson of the Swaziland United Democratic Front(SUDF) said the royal family has turned eSwatini into a ‘professional’ begger despite the fact that, citizens are paying taxes expecting services in return.
“The problem here is State power that is at the hands of the wrong people being the royal family. Why should we even receive assistance from Taiwan while paying taxes”, said the SUDF Chairperson, a coalition of pro-democracy groups which has been, vigorously putting pressure on government to provide drugs in hospitals.
