Environment CEO Gcina Dladla thanks King for touching on United Nations(UN) Sustainable Development Goals(SGDs) oriented climate change issue during Independence Double Celebration.

MBABANE:Gcina Isaac Dladla, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Eswatini Environmental Authority(EEA) has thanked King Mswati for touching on climate-change issues during his Birthday and Independence Day Double Celebration Speech.

Climate change forms part of the United Nations(UN) Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) 2030 agenda, that was adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, the agenda provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet.

“Climate change poses many concerns for the Kingdom and other Nations. The Government is working to adjust to this occurrence while preserving a low-carbon economy. Despite our misfortunes, we are elated that the country won the “Best urban development NDC initiative of the year for strengthening urban resilience in eSwatini through climate proofing green, grey, and blue infrastructure(sure)”, said the King when delivering his speech.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Sunday, the Environment CEO said, as the institution responsible for the environment, they were encouraged by the King’s Speech.

“We were greatly encouraged by speech by Ingwenyama.Climate change indeed pose a greatest risk to development and livelihoods Dlamini.The country will definitely need to speed up climate action and environment safeguards”, said the Environment CEO in a message sent to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
