MBABANE: General Abdourahamane Bozoum,the Niger's Army Commander, who sized power after overthrowing President Mohamed Bazoum formed a military alliance with neighbouring Burkina Faso and Mali, Aljazeera reported on Saturday morning.
It has been reported that the military leaders of the three countries signed a mutual defence pact, Ministerial delegations from the Sahel countries announced in Mali's capital Bamako.
“I have today signed with the Heads of State of Burkina Faso and Niger the Liptako-Gourna charter establishing a collective defence and mutual assistance framework," Mali Military leader Assimi Goita said on his X social media account.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) issued an altimatum to the coup leaders of Niger recently, threatening military intervention if deposed Bozoum was not returned to power.
