MBABANE: Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson has clarified that, escorts vehicles were not grabbed from former Prime Minister(PM) Cleopas Sipho Dlamini but, were lawfully recalled in light of the fact that, eSwatini has no Prime Minister since the 27th September 2023.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Friday morning subsequent to a report published by this publication suggesting that, the PM was left without escorts, the Government Spokesperson said, the outgoing PM was entitled to one personal bodyguard as per Circular No. 23 of 2023.
“There’s no way wherein,escorts can be “grabbed” from the PM Nkhosi.Escorts were duly and lawfully recalled in the light of the fact that the Kingdom of Eswatini has no Prime Minister since September 27th 2023.The outgoing PM is entitled to a personal bodyguard as per circular no. 23 of 2023 as amended.So,therefore, any impression that the outgoing PM is being left without any security measure is misleading and incorrect.Thank you Mlangeni lomuhle”, reads a message sent to this journalist by the Government Spokesperson.
On another note, the former Prime Minister was seen on Thursday afternoon driving from Mahlanya to Lobamba without escorts, he vacated office on Wednesday as per a Government Gazette signed by the King in his capacity as the appointing authority.
