MBABANE:Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says, the serious allegations of corruption during the recent race to Senate undermines the Sovereignty of the country.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Monday afternoon on the subject matter, the King’s Spokesperson said, the King was actually analyzing the situation to understand what really happened before declaring his position.

“The King has always advocated for elections by the book away from voodoo and illegal or substandard  practices. Anything no incomformity with the elections or nomination norms and Constitution is therefore a decayed spot in the backbone of the Nation’s Sovereign right to nominate and vote its representation into Parliament.Disorder of this nature  can never be the King’s kind of fun.We can only hope it didnt happen. If indeed it happened, then those who participated must know they have sold the sovereign soul of our democracy. The King has not come out open about the rumours, and we are not surprised;he normally waits to fully understand what exactly happened before committing”, said the King’s Spokesperson.

Efforts to reach Benedict Xaba, the Clerk to Parliament proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

But royal insiders alleged that, relevant law enforcement agencies were already investigating the allegations of corruption without dismissing possibilities of arrests.

A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

It is alleged that, some Members of Parliament(MPs) were allegedly bribed to vote for ten(10) Senators, the credibility of the elections was undermined after some losers started to reveal information suggesting that, they paid huge amounts of money but were subsequently betrayed by the MPs.
