MBABANE: Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson has come-out to clarify that, the highly anticipated list of appointed Senators is not delayed by the ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption in the recent election of Senators by Members of Parliament(MPs).
But royal insiders told this publication that, the King could have long released the list, however, he was waiting for a report by law enforcement agencies regarding the veracity of the widely reported allegations of corruption in the race to Senate, some MPs allegedly took bribes to vote for the new Senators.
“Our experience is that police investigations and the King’s appointment of Senators or any other bodies are a world apart. They don’t depend on each other’s successes or failures. We have no reasons to think the King has shared his reasons for not announcing his list of Senators with anyone. So,as expected guesswork rumour mongers will start building mirage stories away from the truth”, said the King’s Spokesperson when responding to Swaziland News on Tuesday.
It could not be ascertained whether the King will release the list after or before appointing the Prime Minister(PM).
But royal insiders disclosed that it might be this week and thereafter, both MPs and Senators are expected to introduce themselves to the King at Mandvulo Hall, before the PM who will be appointed this week announce a Cabinet.
