Poverty eradication cannot be achieved in a country where the education system is deliberately neglected with Universities and/or institutions of higher learning struggling to pay salaries for Lecturers.
King Mswati spoke about the eradicating poverty during Sibaya and he highlighted that, the scarcity of jobs in the country must be declared a disaster.
But without proper management and allocation of adequate resources to Universities, schools including competitive salaries for teachers and Lecturers this, will remain a dream.
The current situation within the Universities is an issue that must be prioritized by the King and the government in fact, this is disaster that requires urgent intervention by all stakeholders.
Lecturers are struggling within the Universities, they work hard but they are not sure whether they will receive their salaries or not because the Management is making excuses every month”apologizing for delaying salaries”.
Eradicating poverty cannot be achieved by donating tractors and trucks to Associations within the Tinkhundla Centres under the Regional Development Fund(RDF) and while this is appreciated, the education machinery that capacitate skills to produce human resources must be empowered with working tools.
We cannot blame the Management of the University of Eswatini(UNESWA), the current situation within the institution of higher learning has been triggered by the lack of a political will to prioritize education.
New Prime Minister(PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini and his boss King Mswati must allocate more funds to Universities and schools, increase scholarships for students and support the ongoing Eswatini Youth Empowerment Program(EYEP) facilitated by the United Nations Development Program(UNDP).
The UNDP youth empowerment is one of the best poverty eradication programs because it seeks to capacitate young people with skills to prepare them for employment or establishment of businesses.
Education and/or the capacitating of skills remains fundamental in poverty eradication, you cannot claim to be fighting poverty while destroying the education sector.
