MBABANE: Thulisile Dladla,the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) says, businesswoman Zinhle Matsebula’s Lifespan Diagnostic was approved by the World Health Organization(WHO) to conduct COVID-19 tests in the Kingdom of eSwatini.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Tuesday evening,when clarifying a document she wrote to the then Prime Minister(PM) Cleopas Sipho Dlamini,seeking approval for members of the King’s delegation to conduct COVID-19 tests at Lifespan,the DPM said,the directive was in line with the health institutions approved by WHO.
The King was traveling to Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo to attend the Southern African Development Community(SADC) Summit.
“Only two(2)institutions were accredited by WHO for internationally travel to test COVID, that is why it was important to state it.It was either Lancet or Lifespan. Lifespan was accredited after Lancet and then brought to our attention.We alternated between the two”,said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) then apologized to this publication for responding late,resulting to the story being published without her side.
“Sorry,I have just seen your message”, said the DPM on Tuesday evening.
It has been disclosed that, as a result of the then Foreign Affairs Minister’s directive, Zinhle Matsebula’s Lifespan Diagnostic managed to cash over one hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00) in one(1) day after testing members of the King’s delegation.
