NHLANGANO: Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) has pleaded with the eSwatini Nation to stop Gender Based Violence(GBV), Government online platforms reported last week.
The DPM was speaking when launching the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV in Nhlangano under the theme: "Invest to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls”, she urged all emaSwati to commit in making eSwatini a safe place for women and girls.
“Today,I plead with all emaswati to stop the occurrence of Gender Based Violence at any-day and anytime.Let history not repeat itself.Let us commit to making Eswatini a safe space for women and girls.A space where women and girls can enjoy being loved and love without fear.In the past three weeks,the country has witnessed a brutal killing of women in the hands of their loved ones while four of these women were shot at once in the presence of their minors,an act that has left many women and girls in fear and despair,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The sentiments of the DPM comes amid escalating cases of Gender Based Violence(GBV), Women Rights Organization, the police and political organizations marched in the streets, in an effort to create awareness and discourage GBV.
