MANZINI: Thulisile Dladla,the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) says, Government will address the concerns raised by Persons with Disabilities during the recent Sibaya People’s Parliament.
The DPM, as reported by Government online platforms, was speaking during the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Mavuso Trade Centre on Wednesday.
The commemoration was held under the theme: ‘United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.’
“Sibaya created a positive platform for Persons with Disabilities to raise their issues of concern. We listened and heard their concerns. We are working on a plan of action to guide and inform our response to these concerns in the next five years.It is worthy for me to mention the significant milestones that the country has realised through disability programmes, including the inauguration of the National Disability Advisory Council for Persons with Disabilities that will be responsible for overall coordination of disability programming in the country,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
On another note, the DPM said, Government will soon strengthen the Nation Disability Unit to become a fully fledged department in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
