MBABANE:Mbuso Simelane,the Assistant Attorney General(AG) has stopped multi-million drugs shortage alleged ‘thief’ Kareem Ashraff from stealing R52million from public coffers.
Ashraff,the Director of SwaziPharm Wholesalers had taken government to court demanding the payment of twelve million, eight hundred and fifty-seven thousand,eight hundred and nine-six Rands, fifty-six cents(R12,857,896.56) despite the fact that,he never supplied the drugs or medical equipment in the Ministry of Health.
SwaziPharm further demanded thirty-nine million, seven hundred and ninety-seven thousand and ninety-five Rands, fifty-nine cents(R39,797,095.59)without rendering services or delivering medical equipment to the Ministry of Health, Ashraff failed to produce proof when asked to do so,by the office of the AG on Tuesday.
After realizing that he “has been caught, Kareem Ashraff who was recently exposed by this Swaziland News for looting about R200million in a highly questionable Antiretrovirals(ARVs) tender, decided to withdrew the summons.
Documents obtained by this publication at this juncture suggest that,Kareem Ashraff allegedly looted over R500million public funds using various companies thus worsening the health crisis, in the process he allegedly colluded with procurement officers in the Ministry of Health.
