MBABANE:King Mswati,an absolute Monarch,has spent over R100million taxpayers money purchasing Ferrari cars for his children amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line,some citizens at Ngculwini and other areas were affected by the recent hailstorm and the King’s government failed to provide humanitarian assistance.
Mswati has over thirty(30)children and it has been disclosed that each Ferrari costs over R5million.
The fleet of Ferrari cars were witnessed during Prince Majaha’s birthday this weekend and lavish birthday celebration for the Prince was held at Jozini in the outskirts of the poverty stricken Lavumisa area.
A businessman very close to the Prince who was also invited to the birthday celebration told this publication that,he first thought the Ferrari was a birthday gift for Prince Majaha.
“I saw a Ferrari for Prince Majaha and I first thought maybe it was a birthday gift before learning about the others,”said the businessman who was invited to attend the birthday celebration.
Responding to this publication on the latest developments,Mlungisi Makhanya,the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said,emaSwati have been warned by the organization several times that, there’s no future under the leadership of Mswati.
“We said and warned Swazis against the playboy character of the man they choose to call King.Mswati lacks the basic elements that you would expect from anyone who purports to be a King,because he does not have even the slightest element of empathy for the struggling Swazis.The fact that,we have a man who at a time when Swazis are battling from devastating effects of a natural disaster, a collapsed health system,an education system that is on its knees,he would choose to go and spend the obscene monies to procure luxury vehicles, says a lot about who he is.Once again,we want to urge our people to double their efforts in the struggle to bring to an end,the nonsensical royal supremacy regime,”said the PUDEMO President.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News,King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said,he was not aware of the purchasing but he later mentioned that,if the King purchased the vehicles,he took that decision at private level.
“We are not aware and we are not surprised that we are not privy to the alleged purchase in question because if the King did,then it would be a family matter and not a public affair.Our experience is that the State does not buy vehicles for the King’s sons and daughters,”said the King’s Spokesperson.
Mswati continues to live an extravagant life with his family with monies obtained through looting of taxpayers and mineral resources.
The alleged looting of public funds with impunity, manifests amid the high level of poverty in eSwatini and the collapse of key institutions like the health and education system.
