University of Eswatini(UNESWA)now relying on donations for working equipment as education system collapse amid looting of public funds by Mswati, South Korea donates laptops.

KWALUSENI:Vice Chancellor Justice Tfwala received laptops and printers from South Korea High Commissioner Wonsok Choi on Monday, a few days after the institution announced the postponement of this year’s enrollment due to financial constraints.

Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, the health and education systems have collapsed amid corruption and/or looting of public funds by King Mswati and his trusted servants.

Owen Nxumalo,the Minister of Education and Training and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu were present to receive one hundred and ninety(190)laptops and thirty-five(35)multifunctional printers from the Republic of South Korea.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Gabie Ndukuya, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) confirmed that, the University was facing financial challenges adding that, this was beginning to affect students.

“The University is facing serious financial challenges and relying on donations, this has forced the institution of higher learning to postpone this year’s intake. But what is more concerning to us is that, students are forced to pay more, acceptance fees have been increased even failed courses, it’s now a MUST to pay.Many students failed to register while others were forced to drop-out as they can no longer afford the fees,”said the Students President.
