New ICT Minister Savannah Maziya visits Times newsroom,Managing Editor Martin Dlamini says meeting was meant to enhance citizens’ constitutional right to information.

MBABANE:Martin Dlamini,the Managing Editor of the Times of Eswatini says the visit by newly appointed Minister of Information,Communication and Technology(ICT) Savannah Maziya was meant to,amongst others,enable the Minister to understand and familiarize herself with the operations of the newspaper.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Friday,the editor said,they discussed media issues with the ICT Minister and how she can assist in ensuring transparency and accountability in Government to enhance the constitutional right to access information.

“We invited the Minister to visit the Times offices and she agreed,we were able to discuss issues bordering around access to information.Information is a constitutional right and we urged her to assist in ensuring that,Government subscribes to transparency and accountability and ensure that the citizens receive accurate and factual information,”said the editor.

During the visit on Thursday,ICT Minister met with Managing Director Paul Loffler,Managing Editor Martin Dlamini,Times Sunday editor Thobeka Manyathela,editor Cassandra Shaw and other staff members of the newspaper.
