MBABANE:Senate President Lindiwe Gwebu-Dlamini led a Senate Climate Change Committee that visited the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA) this week to donate thirty thousand, five hundred and fifty Rands(R30,550.00) to assist victims of the recent hailstorm.
The NDMA is under the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulisile Dladla’s Office and the agency is responsible for responding to natural disasters.
Speaking during the handover of the cheque on Friday, the Senate President said “natural disasters happen anytime” and leave destruction.
“We were not expecting this disaster to happen just when we were about to enjoy Christmas but it left mass destruction. As Senators we decided to pay the money directly to the suppliers where you will source the building material”, said the Senate President when addressing the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thulisile Dladla and officials of the Disaster Management Agency during a press conference.
