MBABANE:Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson says, he wondered what natural powers(tihlati) the editor of this Swaziland News use to attract the attention of the South African media to speak about national issues.
Speaking to the State owned radio on Tuesday afternoon, the Government Spokesperson said, it was not true that eSwatini was considering establishing diplomatic relations with China.
This comes after the editor wrote an article on a China trip undertaken by Minerals Board Chairman Prince Guduza and other members of the Board to engage investors, the trip allegedly angered Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang as eSwatini prepares to dump Taiwan and establish relations with the Mainland China.
The editor was then contacted by the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) Channel Africa radio to talk more about the article and issues surrounding China-eSwatini intended diplomatic relations.
King Mswati is alleged to be engaging Chinese investors behind the scenes and considering possible ways to establish diplomatic relations with China as eSwatini faces economic challenges.
“Asati kutsi ugeza ngatiphi tihlati to attract the attention of the South African media. It’s not true that eSwatini is considering establishing diplomatic relations with China, that trip was purely a business trip.Diplomatic relations are not established secretly but the Head of State normally instructs the Foreign Affairs Minister to engage that country openly after taking that decision”, said the Government Spokesperson.
