LUDZIDZINI:Alpheous Nxumalo,the Government Spokesperson might face charges with the highest traditional court at Ludzidzini for allegedly attempting to sabotage Sibaya national gathering,royal insiders told this publication.
The Government Public Relations Officer(PRO) is alleged to have made an announcement suggesting that, Sibaya gathering would be held in a open arena at the Ludzidzini Stadium without consulting the traditional Prime Minister, the King had summoned the Nation to dissolve Parliament.
Individuals fined by Labadzala(traditional authorities) for violating Eswatini Law and Custom are normally fined cattle after being summoned together with their Chief and family elders.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Saturday evening,King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said,he was not aware that Nxumalo might appear before traditional elders but clarified that powers to announce such national gatherings vests with the Governor or Acting Governor.
“We are not aware of Mr Nxumalo’s pending appearance before traditional elders for causing the confusion in question.In our experience it is the responsibility of the Governor(Indvuna) or an acting Governor to announce venues for such national gatherings”,‘said the King’s Spokesperson.
But royal insiders confirmed that, Nxumalo might be summoned to explain before Ludzidzini elders as to who gave him permission to cause confusion during the recent Sibaya.
“It had not happened that Sibaya be held at the Ludzidzini Stadium, even if circumstances could suggest otherwise, the elders would rather postpone not to change venue. Alpheous caused confusion and might be summoned and fined if found guilty”, said the royal insider.
A questionnaire was sent to the Government Spokesperson, however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Efforts to reach Ludzidzini Acting Governor Themba Ginindza proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
When asked to clarify the matters around Sibaya,Chief Mdlaka Gamedze,the Chairman of the Ludzidzini Council said,he was not well-versed about the protocol on issues surrounding Sibaya but clarified that,such issues are sensitive.
“I may not be sure on the exact procedure but it’s a no go area”,said the Chairman of the Ludzidzini Council briefly when speaking to this publication on Saturday evening.
