MBABANE: Dr. Gita Howana has been appointed as the new United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) Acting Resident Representative.
As reported by UNDP online platforms,Gita brings seventeen(17) years of experience working for the UN in various positions including Director UNDP Regional Service Center for West and Central Africa,UNDP Country Director in Angola, Head of the Democratic Governance Group at UNDP HQ in New York, Minister of Justice of the UN Transitional Administration for East Timor, and Regional Advisor of UN Development Fund for Women for Southern Africa.
“We look forward to working with her as she leads the team to support Eswatini to accelerate progress towards meeting targets of the Sustainable Development Goals under the UNDP Strategic Plan and offer to Eswatini in the following thematic areas: Poverty and Inequality, Governance, Resilience, Environment, Energy and Gender Inequality”, reads the online UNDP report published on Monday.
