MBABANE:Alpheous Nxumalo,the retiring Government Spokesperson is allegedly lobbying members of the Civil Service Commission(CSC) to fraudulently change his contract of employment to five(5)years.

This means Alpheous Nxumalo,who is highly expected to vacate office on the 4th April 2024 upon reaching the retirement age,will work for three(3)more years should the alleged intended fraud be successful.

A questionnaire was sent to the retiring Government Spokesperson, however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

But an insider close to the matter alleges that Nxumalo,a close ally of CSC Chairman Simanga Mamba wants to justify that,even though he “has reached the retirement age” his contract has not expired.

“A contract is binding and if he succeeds in lobbying the CSC to fraudulently change it, that would mean he will work at least until 2027 because he was employed in 2022”, said the insider.

Efforts to reach Simanga Mamba,the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission(CSC) proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, an insider very close to the King alleged that, Mswati was furious upon reading in the media that Alpheous Nxumalo was no longer prepared to defend Government on the Swaziland News, the King’s Office opposed the decision directing public officials not to respond.

“INkhosi imangele kakhulu yaze yabuta kutsi lomholo waNxumalo utawuchubeka ube ngako kantsi phela sewutinciphisele umsebenti, yini kungehliswa lomholo(meaning: The King was surprised that Nxumalo was no longer prepared to defend Government and wondered if the salary will remain the same despite the dereliction of duties. He even suggested that, the salary must be reduced”, said the royal insider.

Alpheous Nxumalo might also face charges with the highest traditional court at Ludzidzini Palace and/or Nkhanini for attempting to sabotage the recent Sibaya, the Government Spokesperson allegedly exercised powers of the Governor and created confusion that Sibaya would be held at the Ludzidzini Stadium without consulting with Labadzala.

Responding to this Swaziland News earlier,on the subject matter,King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said,he was not aware that Nxumalo might appear before traditional elders but clarified that powers to announce such national gatherings vests with the Governor or Acting Governor.

“We are not aware of Mr Nxumalo’s pending appearance before traditional elders for causing  the confusion in question.In our experience it is the responsibility of the Governor(Indvuna) or an acting Governor to announce venues for such national gatherings”,‘said the King’s Spokesperson.

When asked to clarify the matters around Sibaya,Chief Mdlaka Gamedze,the Chairman of the Ludzidzini Council said,he was not well-versed about the protocol on issues surrounding Sibaya but clarified that,such issues are sensitive.

“I may not be sure on the exact procedure but it’s a no go area”,said the Chairman of the Ludzidzini Council briefly when speaking to this publication last week.
