MBABANE:”Eswatini has skilled and qualified individuals but the political system has destroyed the economy and forced citizens with qualifications to migrate to other countries”, Zweli Martin Dlamini, the editor of this Swaziland News told Channel Africa, a South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) radio station on Thursday.
The editor mentioned the plight of teachers,he said some qualified educators with Degrees are working on contracts and paid between four thousand (R4,000.00) and Five Thousand Rands(R5,000.00).
When Lulu Gaboo, the SABC anchor asked Dlamini what’s “needs to be done to correct the situation in eSwatini” including the economic frustration of the citizens who then migrate to other countries including South Africa, the editor stated that, eSwatini will never experience economic development under the ruling oppressive Tinkhundla political system of Governance.
“Eswatini is a very-very rich country with natural resources and when it comes to skilled human resource as you have just mentioned, some of skilled and intelligent emaSwati are here in South Africa. The political situation is depriving these citizens an opportunity to work and develop their country, you are talking about issues of economy, issues of economy are determined by political stability. You must make sure that the political system in the country or in eSwatini is stable and democratized so that it enhances the ease of doing business. Once you work around that, then you strengthen the rule of law and by so doing, you enhancing the ease of doing business and attracting investors.Once you do that, the skilled human resource in eSwatini will then come back and develop the country. As the situation stands, it is very difficult for Swazis who are in South Africa to go back home because, even the issues of salaries, that country is paying low salaries. You find skilled human resource, some earning as little as one thousand-five hundred Rands(R1,500).People with Degrees even teachers, they have started contracting teachers, you find teachers working on one(1)year contract earning five thousand(R5000)or four thousand Rands(R4000)”, said the editor.
