MBABANE:Alpheous Mfana Nxumalo,the outgoing and/or retiring Government Spokesperson says,he not going home as his contract of employment is far from being over.
This comes after this Swaziland News exposed information suggesting that,the Civil Service Commission(CSC) whose Chairman is lawyer Simanga Mamba is allegedly plotting to fraudulently change Nxumalo’s contract to five(5)years to prevent his retirement.
On Tuesday,a political activist questioned Nxumalo and sent him an online comment by Zweli Martin Dlamini where the editor was criticizing Nxumalo for thretening persecuted Member of Parliament(MP)Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane that, Government will eventually get him.
The political activist then accused Nxumalo of working towards pleasing the powers that be for a new contract.
“Ow by the way,bulima ngatsi bunengi ngalapho ngakini.My contract is far from being over. You can only dream on and I enjoy it”, said the Government Spokesperson when responding to the political activist on WhatsApp.
A questionnaire was then sent to Nxumalo,however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Government Alpheous Nxumalo will reach the retirement age of sixty(60)on the 4th April 2024 and royal insiders told this publication that,there are moves to employ a new Spokesperson.
It is alleged that,names circulating within the royal circles,of those who might take over as Government Spokesperson include Phesheya Dube, the Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Information, Eswatini Observer editor Mbongeni Mbingo, Montigny Spokesperson and former investigative journalist Sihle Mavuso,Central Bank Spokesperson Mandla Luphondvo and another candidate identified as Vulindlela Kunene.
On another note,it is alleged that,Nxumalo is backed by CSC Chairman Simanga Mamba, Attorney General(AG) Sifiso Khumalo and King’s Private Secretary Mbongeni Simelane among others.
