OPINION:Former Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini demonstrating disrespect to women, must give ex-wife Cynthia Simelane a share of the R50million eState.

Friday, 23rd February, 2024

Cleopas Sipho Dlamini, the former Prime Minister(PM) is demonstrating disrespect to women and setting a bad precedent suggesting that, when we divorce as married men,we must kick-out our wives out of our homes with nothing.

Even before approaching the courts for divorce, a reasonable man who knows exactly how his wife supported him at the time when he was financially struggling, will not resist to share his wealth with that woman.

Support from your woman cannot be necessarily financially but,it comes in many forms including advise, motivation and/or emotional support.

It should be noted that, what former Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini is doing to his ex-wife Cynthia Simelane who is in possession of evidence suggesting that she contributed financially or otherwise in the eState while they were still young in the 1980s is very unfortunate and must be condemned.

Marriage is not a bed of roses, sometimes tension might erupt but a real man will not deprive a woman of her rights as a contributing partner in the marriage because of emotions.

Regardless of the offense committed by a woman in terms of Marriage of Family Law, a reasonable man will give a share of the eState during divorce just to say “thank you for supporting me all these years and giving birth to our children”.

Cynthia Simelane supported Cleopas Dlamini and was a contributing partner during the accumulation of the wealth but today, the former Prime Minister is enjoying that money with his new wives being the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Lomvula Hlophe and another.

The way we(men) treat women in this country suggests that we are far from respecting human rights, we treat women like outcasts.

Once we get angry, we kick them out of our homes with nothing even if they contributed to the wealth of our families, we don’t regard them as human beings who deserve to be treated with human dignity.

I am not suggesting that, women have no weaknesses, perhaps Cynthia Simelane did something that angered Cleopas Dlamini, that we are not aware-off.

But even if she did something wrong, the question is;does she deserve to be treated this way and be forced to poverty by a man who once claimed to love her?

Honestly, former PM Cleopas Dlamini must conduct an introspection and act like a man, we sometimes go through a lot in our marriages but, we have a responsibility to act like men and be reasonable when taking decisions.

This matter does not need the courts, Cleopas Dlamini must just sit down with his former wife endlini ka-Gogo and discuss a reasonable share in the eState.

It is clear that Cleopas Dlamini is busy approaching the courts while frustrating his ex-wife because his new wife Lomvula Hlophe is the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) who is a lawyer by profession, perhaps Dlamini is getting wrong advice from the bedroom.

But in conclusion, let me advice Cleopas Dlamini that there are weaknesses that are common to all women, even the DPP as a woman, has her own skeletons and weaknesses.

A woman that looks new and innocent to you is another man’s former problem and therefore, a real man will not frustrate his wife or ex-wife based on advice from his new wife or girlfriend.

In Siswati “kutsiwa leyo ndvodza yehlulwa ngumcamelo”.

Cleopas Dlamini must act like a man and engage his ex-wife because as the situation stands, he is setting a bad precedent suggesting that, women must be treated unfairly after or during divorce proceedings.

Cynthia Simelane is being frustrated and living in poverty despite investing in her marriage, the source of the problem is a powerful and politically connected man who once shared a pillow with her.
