MBABANE:Retiring Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo has been ‘demoted’ to travel in an economy lowest class in an international trip with the King.
Nxumalo later told the media to question or seek answers from Principal Secretary(PS) in the Prime Minister’s(PM) Office why he “is being made to travel” like a third class citizen?,however, he later said Government was saving money to help emaSwati.
The King will travel to Turkey and other countries next week.
Efforts to seek a comment from Betram Steward,the PS in the Prime Minister’s Office proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
An economy class,also called third(3rd) class,is the lowest travel class of seating in air travel, it has been disclosed that Nxumalo was aggrieved with the decision to allocate him an economy class.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Saturday evening, Brian Sangweni, the National Spokesperson of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) described Nxumalo’s justification as politicking.
“What we can say is that,if government is genuine about saving money to help emaSwati, then the private jet belonging to the King must be sold and Tibiyo must be nationalized. You can’t save money by making Alpheous Nxumalo to travel on economy class, the Government Spokesperson is not being honest why he was made to travel on the lowest class”, said the PUDEMO Spokesperson.
