MBABANE:Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says, the recently concluded R95million trade and investment deal with Turkey facilitated by King Mswati, will oil the engines of socio-economic evolution.

King Mswati who is Turkey attending the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, recently met with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the Forum, he went on to meet Turkish Maarif Foundation President Dr. Birol Akgün.

This comes after the King concluded a trade deal with Turkey, he met with the President of the World Türkiye Business Council Nail Olpak and urged the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye(DEIK) to ensure that trade between the two countries exceeds E95 million (USD 5 million), a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed in this regard.

But apart from the trade agreement, the King facilitated the construction of a Turkish school in the Kingdom of eSwatini, through the Turkish Maarif Foundation and as result,an agreement was signed between the two(2)countries.

Foreing Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu signed on behalf of eSwatini while Dr Akgün represented Turkey or the Turkish Maarif Foundation.

“By definition, the fire business of trade is to meet the socio-economic demands of the countries involved. The higher the volume, the more beneficial the trade becomes. The Eswatini/Turkey trade shall not be different in terms of stimulating economic betterment, particularly in Eswatini where operation NKWE (speedo)has become a buzz word pegged on every effort to secure tangible economic growth as per  the Speech from the Throne last month. We believe it won't be anything available in Turkey, but what Eswatini needs to oil the engines of socio-economic evolution”,said the King’s Spokesperson.
