MBABANE:South African President Cyril Ramaphosa welcomes the United Nations(UN) Security Council’s resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the Presidency reported on Tuesday afternoon.
“We must seize the opportunity presented by this Security Council Resolution to create a firm foundation for a permanent ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations.We need to stop the carnage and begin walking a path to peace,” said the President who further urged the United Nations Security Council to ensure that, there is compliance with the resolution,which is binding on the parties.
It has been reported that, South Africa remains concerned that in over five months, since the escalation the conflict, thousands have lost their lives, including over thirteen thousand(13 000)children.
