MBABANE: Sinawe Thambo,the National Spokesperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) has, on behalf of the political organization, released a statement calling for the immediate arrest of Parliament Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

This comes after Gauteng High Court Judge Sulet Potterill dismissed the Speaker’s application, seeking to stop her arrest on alleged corruption allegations.

“The Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) demands the immediate arrest of National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula after her failed attempt to evade justice through an urgent court application to block her arrest for corruption allegations.The recent ruling by Gauteng High Court Judge Sulet Potterill, striking down Mapisa-Nqakula’s application, is a resounding victory for accountability and the rule of law”, reads the statement released on Tuesday.

The Speaker is facing allegations of corruption while serving as the then Minister of Defense and Military Veterans.
