MBABANE: Allen Vilane,the Madlangemphisi Member of Parliament(MP) has been ordered by the High Court of eSwatini to pay back Three Hundred and Ninety Two Thousand, Five Hundred Rands(R392,500.00) to Mpofu Multi Purpose Co-operative.
This comes after the MP who is the Director of Mpumalanga Construction(Pty) Ltd convinced women of the said Cooperative organization to buy a truck, without informing them that,he was owing the bank.
The MP then failed to use the money to settle the debt with the bank and thereafter, the truck was repossessed by the financial institution as legally, it was still the property of the bank.
As a result of the MP’s failure to pay the said amount to women who are trying to earn a living under Mpofu Multi Purpose Co-operative, the Deputy Sheriff has been directed to attach movable goods of Allen Vilane and Mpumalanga Construction to be sold through public auction.
“You are hereby directed to attach and take into execution the movable goods of Allen Vilane, an adult liSwati male of Mhlume in the Lubombo District and that of Mpumalanga Construction(PTY) LTD, a Company duly registered and incorporated in accordance to the Company Lawa of Eswatini and doing business as such at Mhlume in the Lubombo District and of the same to cause to be realized by public auction for the sum of E392 500(Three Hundred and NinetyTwo Thousand Five Hundred Emalangeni) together with interest at the taxed and which Plaintiff recovered by judgment of this Honorable Court on the 21st April 2021 in the above mentioned case”, reads the writ of execution in part.
Efforts to seek a comment from the MP proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
It is alleged that,the MP has been ‘on the run’ or evasive,he failed to pay the women he allegedly defrauded even after receiving allowances and back-payment with other MPs.
The monies defrauded from the women was allegedly used by the MP to campaign for a seat in Parliament.
