MBABANE: Reverend Elias Shongwe, the founder of the popular Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group allegedly discovered that, his wife lied to him that she did not have a child.

The wife allegedly told Shongwe that, the child that “is now at the centre of the disagreement between the gospel singer and his wife", belonged to her sister.

As reported by this Swaziland News earlier on Monday, the gospel singer is allegedly preparing to divorce the wife after being betrayed for many years and, according to sources close to the matter, the wife did not give clear reasons why she decided to lie before the marriage about the child who is now an adult.

“Efforts were made to try and save the marriage but Shongwe demanded to know why the wife lied, he even said he doesn’t know what other information the wife is hiding about herself and why he must continue trusting her”, said the source.

Efforts to seek a comment from the wife proved unsuccessful as she has been evasive ever-since this publication started following the matter last week.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Thursday evening,the popular gospel singer described the ongoing ‘conflict’ with his wife as a normal disagreement that erupts in many families.

It is alleged that the disagreement intensified amid allegations suggesting that, the popular gospel singer was considering divorcing his wife and marry a young praise team member.

“It’s true that we are not seeing eye to eye with my wife but, we haven’t started the process of a divorce, ewu tindzaba tigijima kakhulu sebakutjelile”, said the Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group founder when responding to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini earlier.

Reverend Ellias Shongwe founded the Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group in 1997, one of his his first albums featured popular songs that include “My sins are higher than Mountains”. He then produced various popular hit songs that include “Konkhe kuhamba kahle” and “Emazulu Avumile”, among others.
