MBABANE:Sivumelwano Nyembe, the Spokesperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) questioned Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini as to why MSF Chairperson lawyer Sicelo Mngomezulu was banned from entering eSwatini.
Addressing thousands of workers during the May Workers Day Celebration at the Prince of Wales-Mbabane on Wednesday, the MSF Spokesperson wondered why the Government feared the presence of the lawyer.
Mngomezulu, the Chairperson of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF), a coalition of pro-democracy groups was banned by King Mswati’s regime merely for representing convicted pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube, the government targeted him and intensified the persecution after he started to openly support calls for democratic reforms.
“Why are you afraid of Sicelo Mngomezulu?.Why did you ban him from entering eSwatini because his ancestors are here, allow him to be in the country”, said the MSF Spokesperson.
Prime Minister Russell Dlamini was among the invited guests during the May,however, he had to flee for safety after workers refused to allow him to speak, the environment subsequently became hostile and a threat to his personal security.
Eswatini is not democratic, political parties are banned from participating in elections while human rights defenders are arrested, tortured or even killed for demanding democracy.
