KENYA: Mandla Tshauka, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives has urged investors to consider establishing fertilizer manufacturing plants in Eswatini, Government online platforms reported on Tuesday.
The Minister was addressing the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit in Nairobi,Kenya, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini was part of the delegation.
“This is a result of concerted efforts over time. However,as a country,we still face challenges like importing all our fertilisers hence being subjected to shocks of events that happen outside our borders such as the Russia/Ukraine conflict. We therefore extend an invitation to reputable investors in this sector to come and set up fertiliser manufacturing plants in the country. The other challenge we face is that most of our fertilisers are synthetic. We still need a lot of research and development in the organic side of soil nutrition and soil health in general. Again, we are open to business in this regard,” said the Agriculture Minister.
