MBABANE:Owen Nxumalo,the Minister of Education and Training has announced the appointment of Lot Vilakati, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) into the Education System Review Committee.
Vilakati has been appointed together with other education expert and,they are tasked with conducting research about the effectiveness of the country’s education system.
The Education System Review Committee is chaired by Mboni Dlamini, the Executive Secretary of the Eswatini Qualifications Authority (EQA).
Other members are Njabuliso Gwebu,Dr Simanga Alex Tsela, Victor Nkambule, Phephile Magongo,Ernest Simelane,Prof Themba Mahlaba,Macandza Mamba,Musa Hlophe,Mcolisi Stan Maphosa,Marcia Hillary,Dr Bethusile Mahlalela,Busisiwe Simelane,Makhosazana Madondo, Tizzie Maphalala,Mduduzi Phoseka Masilela and Dr Mandlenkhosi Dlamini.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, the Education Minister said, he “has been mandated by Cabinet to announce the Committee adding that, the team is expected to submit a report within six(6) months”.
The Minister further noted that,the appointment of the Committee comes at the time when members of the public “are raising concerns” regarding the effectiveness of the country’s education system.
“I have been mandated by Cabinet to announce this Committee that will submit a report within six(6) months”, said the Minister.
Naniki Mnisi, the Acting PS in the Ministry of Education was with the Minister when he announced the Commitee.
