MBABANE:Mduduzi Matsebula, the Minister of Health has lied to the Nation again saying cancer drugs have been delivered amid contradictory statements from the Government regarding the ongoing health crisis.
Before the Health Minister’s recent statement, Commerce Minister Mancoba Khumalo, the then Chairperson of the Cabinet Health Crisis Committee had assured the Nation that, by January 2024, government would have delivered all drugs in public hospitals however that did not happen.
“The Ministry of Health informs the public that a majority of the cancer drugs listed as out of stock are available and some were received last week”, said the Health Minister through a public statement released on Tuesday.
But this publication gathered that the drugs delivered could only sustain the Nation for only two(2) weeks and were delivered in a few public hospitals.
Eswatini is struggling with a collapsed health system amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals, triggered by rampant corruption in public administration and royal extravagant spending.
Government has been releasing one statement after another, lying about the availability of of drugs and at some point, Cabinet said, the health crisis was over as drugs have been delivered only to release another contradictory statement again.
