MANZINI: Abigal Jele,the Swaziland United Democratic Front(SUDF) Media has been unfairly dismissed.

The Media Officer was allegedly summoned by SUDF leader Themba Mabuza into a meeting held Manzini Bus Rank and told that her services has been terminated.

Reached for comments, the dismissed Media Officer confirmed to this Swaziland News that, her services were terminated adding that, Mabuza told her, the instruction came from a donor based in Denmark.

“I was shocked to be treated this way by an organization that claims to be fighting for human rights”, said the dismissed Media Officer when speaking to this publication.

Jele said, she was not ready to speak further about the matter for now as it depressed her.

It has been disclosed that, Jele was first called for an evaluation of her performance and the donor was happy and even suggested that, her salary must be increased.

But weeks later, Mabuza informed her that the same donor allegedly said, Jele must be fired.

The name of the Denmark based organization or donor funding the SUDF and, allegedly complicit to the violating of the dismissed Media Office’s rights cannot be revealed for now as efforts are being made to sent a questionnaire.

Responding to this publication, Lucky Dlamini, the Chairman of the Swaziland United Democratic Front(SUDF) promised to investigate the matter internally and share a comment.

“I will speak to Abigal and Mabuza to understand what happened then share a comment”, said the SUDF Chairman who was contacted by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini about a week ago, however, he had not shared the comment at the time of compiling this report.

But a legal expert who spoke to this publication, described the matter as clear unfair dismissal and urged the organization to negotiate with the employee and pay a reasonable compensation if her services are no longer needed.

“It’s a clear unfair dismissal and one wouldn’t expect such from an organization fighting or advocating for human rights”, said the legal expert.
