MBABANE:Johannes Manikela, the Chairman of the Federation of Eswatini Business Community(FESBC) in the Hhohho region says, life is literally beginning to be a struggle in the country particularly for businesspeople within the Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) sector.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Thursday morning, when asked to comment about sentiments uttered by Commerce,Industry and Trade Minister Mancoba Khumalo who emphasized the importance of supporting SMEs,the FESBC Hhohho region Chairman said, the sentiments of the Minister were not a demonstration of a political will to support local businesses.
“As we speak, life is literally a struggle in the country particularly for local businesspeople, there’s no business, money is not circulating. It’s hard to get tenders and even if you can secure a government tender, you will wait for six(6) months without payment and banks will impose interest such that, when the payment eventually comes, you will be left with nothing.Money is not circulating and as businesspeople, we are frustrated”, said the FESBC Hhohho region Chairman.
