LOBAMBA:Sifiso Khumalo, the Attorney General(AG) says, the Parliament Public Accounts Commitee(PAC) was wrong to suspend sittings over the statements made by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini where he was attacking the Office of the Auditor General(AG).
The AG was speaking in Parliament on Monday afternoon after being asked to provide clarity or a legal opinion, with regards to the matter that triggered a constitutional crisis after the PM labelled the Auditor General incompetent.
“It was inappropriate for PAC to then suspend sittings on the basis of a statement that has been issued by the Prime Minister in other forums”, said the AG.
The Attorney General maintained that, the three(3) arms of Government being the Executive,Judiciary and Legislature “operate independently from each others” and therefore, the PM’s statement has no effect whatsoever,in the operations of the PAC.
