MBABANE:Lucky Dlamini, the Chairman of the Swaziland Unemployed People’s Movement(SUPMO) says, over six hundred thousand(600 000) emaSwati are struggling without jobs,he urged Government and all stakeholders to find a solution to the crisis.

Speaking to this Swaziland News when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini this week, the Chairman highlighted that, the unemployment crisis in the country was caused by various factors including Government policies.

“Even the Government ‘anti employment’ policies are contributing to the high unemployment rate, you find emaSwati with huge land in the rural areas but they can’t use that land as collateral to secure bank loans because there is no legal framework regulating that.Furthermore, the Government is restricting the establishment of certain businesses like commercial radio stations, all this and other factors are contributing to the high unemployment rate”, he said.

The Chairman said, the figures of the unemployed emaSwati were released by Government and urged the country to conduct an introspection why such a large percentage of the population struggles to secure jobs.

On another note, the scarcity of jobs and low salaries in eSwatini has reduced the quality of life for emaSwati, about 70% of the population lives below the poverty line.
