Ex-Senator Masalekhaya Simelane dies amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals.

MANKAYANE:Former Senator Masalekhaya Simelane has died,his brother Mphumzeni Simelane confirmed to this Swaziland News on Friday afternoon.

It has been disclosed that,the former Senator who was suffering from a liver disease died while visiting one hospital and another,in search for drugs or medication. 

“It’s true that he has died,his children and grandchildren even tried to take him to Nelsprit for treatment”, said the brother to the late Senator.

It is alleged that,the Senator was even transported to traditional healers amid the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Friday evening,Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) Marwick Khumalo described the late former Senator as a down to earth person who was naturally brilliant.

“He was a very humble and down to earth character, whose continuous laughter could never be mistaken and had become like a hobby.In 1998,he was elected by the House of Assembly into the Senate.He served five years.Masalekhaya was naturally brilliant and no wonder he left a mark at the then University of Botswana and Swaziland.Eswatini has lost a very fine and patriotic citizen”,said the Lobamba Lomdzala MP.

Eswatini is facing shortage of drugs in public hospitals,dozens have died since the health crisis erupted.
