MBABANE:Justice Minister Prince Simelane was discussed in a high level secret meeting involving Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini,SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff and Acting Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) Maphevu Mkhatjwa, the meeting was allegedly about a plot to arrest Auditor General(AG) Timothy Matsebula.
Ashraff, the influential, powerful and politically connected businessman who doubles as the Indonesian Consular has been allegedly frequenting the Cabinet Offices for the past weeks, meeting the Prime Minister.
Ashraff, according to a comprehensive report compiled by Funduzi Forensic Services, stands accused of looting over R1billion public funds within the Ministry of Health, resulting to the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.
The PM’s meetings, according to insiders in the corridors of power, were held with Ashraff without an appointment and this, demonstrated the power of Ashraff’s influence on the PM and urgency of the nature of their discussions, other separate meetings involving the Acting Anti Corruption Commissioner were also held.
It is alleged that,in the recent meeting whose highly confidential contents were leaked to this journalist,Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Prince Simelane was described as a man who doesn’t take bribes and therefore, might be a stumbling block in the plot to arrest the Auditor General as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP)falls under his jurisdiction.
An independent investigation conducted by this Swaziland News uncovered that, about two(2) weeks ago and subsequent to the secret meeting,Maphevu Mkhatjwa, the Acting Anti Corruption Commissioner(ACC)made a call to Attorney General(AG) Sifiso Khumalo.
The first three(3)calls were alleged missed calls but subsequently, the Acting Commissioner managed to speak to the Attorney General(AG) seeking some advice as the plot to arrest the Auditor General(AG) intensifies.
It has been disclosed that, the Acting ACC Commissioner made the call to the Attorney General after his meeting with Prime Minister Russell Dlamini where the plan to arrest Auditor General Timothy Matsebula was orchestrated.
But the decision to contact the Attorney General allegedly came after Ashraff, the Prime Minister and the Acting ACC Commissioner concluded that, they might face challenges in their plan to arrest Matsebula as the Justice Minister and Acting Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Lomvula Hlophe “are not on their side”.
It is alleged that, the plan was then made to at least win the Attorney General who ‘unfortunately’ allegedly distanced himself saying the politically motivated intended arrest might create problems,as AG Timothy Matsebula was doing his job when auditing the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA).
Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and Kareem Ashraff has allegedly seized control of the Anti Corruption Commission and manipulating it to fight their political enemies.
This comes after the Auditor General(AG) in his various reports, concluded that, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, the then National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA) Chief Executive Officer(CEO) failed to account for R210millon public and donated funds.
But this, resulted to the PM attacking Matsebula while labelling the Office of the Auditor General(AG) incompetent.
“It is important that we have to begin to look at whether the reports of the Auditor General can now be relied upon”, said the Prime Minister when attacking the Auditor General recently during a Breakfast Meeting with editors.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini declined to comment when reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Friday evening, while SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff promised to comment after the court cases.
“I will speak after the court cases”, said the SwaziPharm Director.
Reached for comments by this publication,Wandile Dludlu, the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic(PUDEMO) described the tension between the Auditor General(AG) and the Prime Minister(PM) as dangerous adding that, this might result to others within the various political factions going to jail.
“What you need to understand is that this war is not only involving the Prime Minister and the Auditor General, there are at least three(3) factions that we are currently aware-off. The PM is backed by his own faction while others support the Auditor General. So with regards to who might go to jail, this will depend on whose faction is more powerful than the other”,said the PUDEMO Deputy President.
It is alleged that, Ashraff has activated and captured almost the institution of the State including individuals except for the Justice Minister and Lomvula Hlophe, the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) and a few others in the public administration.
But apart from targeting the Auditor General(AG),the Prime Minister and Ashraff’s syndicate is also targeting Funduzi Forensic Services, the investigation company that exposed his companies in the disappearance of billions within the Ministry of Health, resulting to the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.
Responding to this Swaziland News, Zakhele Dlamini, the Managing Director of Funduzi Forensic Services said, they were equally shocked with the latest developments.
“The syndicate targeting our company is huge and all this is intended to discredit the forensic report”, said the Funduzi Managing Director.
But now, information has emerged suggesting that,in one of the meetings between the PM, Acting ACC Commissioner and Ashraff, the issue of Acting DPP Lomvula Hlophe who was described as a person who wants to arrest Kareem Ashraff, was allegedly discussed.
But the discussions allegedly involved strategies on what needed to be done in order to prevent the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) from being confirmed into the position.
Worth-noting,the highly classified information that reached this publication further suggests that, the PM and Ashraff’s syndicate went as far as discussing how to win and neutralize Lomvula Hlophe or alternatively, remove and prevent her from being confirmed as the DPP.
It is alleged that, the Prime Minister want to appoint a DPP who will be loyal to him and by extension, his ally SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff.
“The main worry now is that,Justice Minister Prince Simelane is not part of all this,Simelane akatsatsi mali yemuntfu yema-bribe utiphumela emsebentini acondze endlini. The DPP is also not part of the Ashraff-Prime Minister syndicate so they don’t want her in that position. The DPP is the daughter of the late AK Hlophe who was King Sobhuza’s trusted servant and her mother is a Princess while her husband is former Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini who is rich, clearly unlike the others, she might not be desperate for Ashraf’s money. So all this plot to are arrest the Auditor General might be in vain without the involvement of the Justice Minister or the DPP”,said an insider.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo declined to comment about the matter.
Eswatini Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini is at the centre of abuse of power, using State resources to fight his political battles.
The PM was allegedly captured by SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff and they are currently working collectively,to fight the Auditor General.
