MBABANE:Bongani Madzabudzabu Kunene,the Chairperson of the Swaziland Massacre Victims and Survivors Association(SWAVISA) has confirmed that,the organization will commemorate three(3) years since the 29th June 2021 massacre where dozens of innocent civilians were killed by King Mswati’s security forces.
“It’s true that we will be commemorating the June 29 massacre in remembrance of those who died during the 2021 massacre.We urge the public to wear black every Friday until the 29th June event”, said the SWAVISA Chairperson.
On another note,the police Executive Command has suspended leave and off-days ahead of the June 29th massacre commemoration and according to information obtained from the Police Headquarters,roadblocks are expected to be staged before or after the 21st June 2024 to prevent possible protests.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati,the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
One of the police officers who was recorded talking to a friend said,the State Intelligence is allegedly suspecting that,there might be some attacks on State properties or individuals by pro-democracy activists to commemorate the massacre.
“We have been stopped from applying for leave or off-days until after the 29th June, we were told there’s a security threat”, said the police officer who was recorded revealing State information.
