MBABANE:Mayibongwe Masangwane,the Secretary General of the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union(SWADNU) has confirmed that amid the health crisis,patients are now forced to buy or provide their own theatre equipment.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Thursday when asked to confirm if it’s true that,patients at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial(RFM) Hospital were forced to buy their own theatre equipment, Masangwane said,the challenges started at the Mbabane Government Hospital before intensifying to other health institutions.
“We can confirm that patients at RFM and other Government hospitals are now forced to purchase their own theatre equipment”,said the Nurses Union Secretary General.
Efforts to reach the RFM Management proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report while Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo declined to comment.
On another note,a eye patient sent a picture and told this Swaziland News that, he was given an expired eye drop on Thursday.
“I was given an expired eye drop and told to buy at the Pharmacy”, said the patient.
Eswatini is facing a health crisis amid rampant looting and corruption in the public administration.
