MATSAPHA:Convicted eSwatini pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza has been assaulted by warders again and as a result, his lawyers were on Wednesday denied permission to see him.

Reached for comments, lawyer Mhlengi Mabuza confirmed that, the MP was allegedly assaulted adding that as the legal, they were subsequently denied permission to see him.

“It’s true that he was allegedly assaulted and as his legal team,we were not allowed to see him. Please contact Ben J Simelane for a detailed comment because he went there to consult but the Correctional Services Administrators denied him entry”, said the lawyer.

Efforts to reach lawyer Ben J Simelane proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Superintendent Gugulethu Dlamini, the Correctional Services Spokesperson declined to comment about the alleged assault.

But a relative to the convicted MP told this Swaziland News that,Mabuza was assaulted after being cheered by inmates, the relative said prisoners love and respect the MP.

“After seeing the inmates cheering him,he then said; “ngitani-addresser kusasa-ke majaha” and the Correctional Services Officers became angry saying he was acting and behaving like the King,he was then assaulted. So one of his wives went there and was given an instruction to instruct the lawyers to move an urgent court application to force the Correctional Services to allow him to see a doctor. If they refuse to allow the lawyers to see again, lawyers will move an urgent application on Thursday”, said the relative.

MP Bacede Mabuza was arrested together with MP Mthandeni Dube merely for demanding democratic reforms inside Parliament, the order to arrest the MPs was allegedly issued by King Mswati,an absolute Monarch.

Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane, another pro-democracy MP who was also targeted by the Tinkhundla undemocratic regime, fled to exile and was granted protection or asylum by the United Kingdom.
