MBABANE:The Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Georgetown University Center for Global Health Practice and Impact(GUCGHPI) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This collaboration,celebrated at SMVAF’s Head Office,is poised to revolutionize road safety and post-crash care in Eswatini by integrating research-driven insights and innovative practices.
Sam Mzileni,SMVAF’s Corporate Services Executive, lauded the initiative, highlighting the dedication of SMVAF’s Corporate Communications and Legal teams. “This partnership represents a significant step in our journey to adopt ISO 9001:2015 standards and drive innovation within our organization,” Mzileni remarked.
The Corporate Services Executive emphasized the value of learning and collaboration with Georgetown University.
David Mfanimpela Myeni, CEO of SMVAF, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership,underscoring its potential to impact not only SMVAF but also broader policy and operational frameworks. “Our collaboration with Georgetown University underscores our commitment to healthcare and road safety.
This project will foster a growth mindset among our staff and influence decision-making at various levels, including parliament and government agencies,” Myeni stated.
Professor Samson Haumba, Country Resident Director of Georgetown University, emphasized the research-oriented nature of the partnership. He noted the critical need for improved road traffic safety in Eswatini, given the high number of accidents.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to drive sustainable solutions and health equity by providing technical assistance for impactful research,” Haumba explained.
The partnership is expected to enhance SMVAF’s operational efficiencies, claims compensation processes, and overall administration.
By leveraging Georgetown University’s expertise in research and health practice,the collaboration will focus on areas such as road transportation management, emergency evacuation, and advanced medical treatment.
Haumba highlighted the importance of data and evidence-based approaches in shaping effective policies.
