Sifiso Nyembe’s resignation as the Public Affairs Manager of the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(RESC) must be investigated by any public company seeking to employ him particularly amid rumors suggesting that,he might join the Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS).
I remember some years ago,Nyembe was seeking to advertise in our publication but he literally demanded a bribe to approve the advertising budget and after I refused to pay the bribe,he disappeared.
In the midst of our conversation, Nyembe said “manje uyakhulumiseka yini wena” and when I probed him further what he meant with that,he wanted a share of the payment in order for the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation to advertise.
This was after he visited my office in Mbabane with his friend Thulani Tfwala, the then Swazi Observer editor.
Now, Sifiso Nyembe is leaving a well-paying company with benefits, the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(RESC) and I am not suggesting that, he must not be employed because I’m not here to destroy people but to provide information.
Public and reputable private companies are fully aware that an investigation is conducted before the approval of any employment for such a powerful position, Nyembe is rumored to be eyeing a position as Director of Marketing and Communications within the Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS).
Vusi Dlamini who is now the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Eswatini Tourism Authority(ETA) worked with integrity in that position with no scandals and the public institution must replace him with an equally credible person.
As mentioned,I am not suggesting that Nyembe must not be employed if he changed from his alleged corrupt behavior but, just sharing what he did and this means he might have been doing it to or with others.
Nyembe’s resignation at the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation must be investigated with independent sources of information not his Management because there are allegations suggesting that,he was very close to his boss.
But if he is clean and was just changing companies for better opportunities,he must be employed of course, after being screened.
