MBABANE:Bongani Nzima,the Minister of Sports,Culture and Youth Affairs has urged the sporting fraternity to work towards ensuring that, at least one(1) Liswati qualifies for the upcoming Olympic Games.
The Sports Minister was speaking on Friday when bidding farewell to a team that will represent eSwatini in the Paris Olympics.
“This is a challenge that is achievable. Eswatini is certainly brimming with talent. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that we find this talent, nurture it and drive our athletes towards optimal elite level performances.The Tinkhundla National Talent Search Competition we launched last week is part of Government’s response to this challenge. It is my hope that Eswatini’s stars at the LA Olympics and/or the Brisbane Olympics in 2032, will be discovered during the course of this tournament,” said the Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.
The team includes Zakhele Dlamini,Sibusiso Matsenjwa,Hayley Hoy,Chadd Ning,Dr. Charmaine Rudd,Thoba Mazibuko and Lungi Khanya.
